Trelissick Gardens

Trelissick Gardens upon entry are exciting and unique. A rainbow of plants, shrubs and flowers surround you in every direction and the large variety of paths surrounding the entrance mean that every visit is different no matter how often you come to explore.

It is easy to get lost amongst the enchanting surroundings, sneaking views of the surrounding area and the sea through gaps in the trees and bushes. The hillside placement of the gardens mean that the paths are sometimes uneven but from high up in the gardens the views are overwhelming and beautiful all year round.

The gardens entice the senses. They're colourful, bright and beautiful and the smell of spring flowers on a sunny day or freshly cut grass helps create a positive area. The bark on large and established trees in the garden is rough and strong, yet the small snow-drops dotted in the grass are delicate and soft. Not only are the gardens filled with amazing plants, but an abundance of wildlife lives within the location. A wide variety of birds can be seen above the gardens throughout the day, making the environment ever-changing and exciting.

Trelissick Gardens are over forty acres large.  Filled with distinct, colourful and exotic plants - including banana trees, rare and unique shrubs, bright and fresh blooms and mixed flower borders containing camellias, rhododendrons and azaleas, the surroundings are beautiful. Wildflowers, daffodils and an abundance of bluebells create the perfect backdrop to enjoy the scenic views of Fal estuary and Falmouth in the distance.

There are lots of wooden summer houses hidden amongst the scenery, ideal for enjoying the atmosphere and location. The tennis lawn is an open, spacious and flat area with spectacular views, situated next to Trelissick House, perfect for picnics or relaxing on a sunny day.

One of the most spectacular aspects of Trelissick Gardens is the cryptomeric japonia tree which was planed in 1898 and today, towers over the landscape in the gardens and is a focal point as you enter the area.

Trelissick Gardens contain a traditional Cornish orchard which was planted over twenty years ago. Several types of local apple varieties grow there and increase the biodiversity of the gardens. An old apple press was restored to working order for 'Apple Weekend' celebrations which took place in the autumn.
